Have the vet check them, and advise you as to proper medication — IF they have fleas!!!

take him to the vets and get some frontline it works wonders
Go to your vet and get either Frontline or Advantage. You also need to have them checked for other problems. Fleas can cause allergy problems in dogs and create very itchy secondary infections.
Other options for treatment: Combination of Program and Capstar.
You also need to treat the environment.
If it is fleas, a spot-on treatment from your vet is the best bet – such as Frontline. Your vet will want to see the dogs first, to be sure of their weights and general health, and to rule out any other mite infestation that could be causing the itching. Flea allergies can develop if fleas are left untreated, and this can lead to bald patches, or even weeping sores if the dog can’t stop nibbling or scratching – so take them for a check up and get the right meds from your vet – forget store bought flea collars and sprays, they just aren’t up to it and are a total waste of money.
Frontline – Nothing better on the market.
Tip is for two small dogs, buy the medium and split it to save on cost.
Many of the pet owners prefer to use a flea collar, which works by killing fleas, which are already present in your pets coat. You need to keep the collar around your pet’s neck for a good amount of the day for it to be effective. However, in case your dog is not used to wearing a collar, there are other alternatives as well.
Fleas sprays and drops are other methods of getting rid of fleas. The problem, but, is to ensure that you use only the prescribed amount of the pesticide as an extra amount of the chemical may do more harm than good. Make sure you read the instructions carefully to avoid any such complications.
